I came across a rare batch of portraits of African Americans taken in Tallahassee, FL sometime between 1884 - 1910. ( By Alvan S Harper.) I took one of those daguerreotypes which had a broken spot over the chest area, printed it on fabric, cut through the fabric in the area that was broken on the original, and hand sewed vintage beading and floral embroidery in the space. It was then put in a vintage wooden tilt / swing frame. This is meant to be displayed on a mantel, desktop, bookshelf, etc. NOT on a wall. Frame still tilts. There's no glass. The frame itself features some carvings, and while it's not in pristine condition (please look at pictures carefully) it's still sturdy.
Please look at the dimensions in the beginning of the listing so you're aware of it's size before purchase.
* I do my best to represent each piece as best as I can, but due to differences in monitors/settings there's always the chance there are differences between what you see on your monitor and how the piece looks in person.
