This is a mixed-media piece that's a little different from my usual work as I've started playing around with printing on very thin vellum to layer over other things. It's also something that I can reproduce, so it's not technically one of a kind, though there is going to be some slight variation in each one due to the vellum. Working with the vellum is honestly a pain in the butt, so I am limiting how many I'll make to 15, outside of these test pieces I've created.
Each piece is actually two pieces, the top vellum layer and the bottom paper layer. I printed each piece with my Canon photo printer. The images are both old illustrations within the public domain. The illustration of the woman comes from Paul Regnard's book, "Sorcellerie, Magnétisme, Morphinisme, Délire Des Grandeurs" which covers in part the affliction of "hysteria" in women. Hence the name. Top layer illustration is from Claude Paradin's "Devises heroïques". Both illustrations have been altered and cleaned up digitally.
The third image gives you an idea of the two separate layers, but each final piece will be attached to each other, so there won't be any moving around of each layer, but they also won't be fully attached either to allow for some extra variation in the opaqueness since the vellum can pull away from the paper a little.
I've already created 2 pieces for this series, with the possibility of one more on the way.
Every print is created by me personally before shipping out to customers to ensure quality, as well as to be hand signed, numbered and dated with the year the print was made. You'll also receive a certificate of authenticity since it's a limited edition.
I am making these myself on demand, but in order to give the ink on the vellum time to settle in I'm estimating I'll be shipping these out within 3-5 business days, max. Insurance, faster shipping, etc, is also available if requested, at an additional cost.
If you need an order by a certain date, please contact me first.
* I do my best to represent each piece as best as I can, but, due to differences in monitors/settings there's always the chance there are differences between what you see on your monitor and how the piece looks in person. Rest assured that the print you receive will look the way I intended it to.
(Copyright information might have been placed digitally on the image but will NOT be on the print.)
I do not accept returns or exchanges.
Again, please refer to the Shop Policies for more in-depth information on all the aspects I briefly covered above. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask first! I'd prefer exchanging 50 emails before you ever place your order to make sure you're happy in the end.
